First stop is Haj Khalifeh Ali Akbar (Jame), a family bakery that has been working in the Old Bazaar of Yazd for over a century, with the third and fifth generation working side by side. We follow the whole process of Yazdi cake, the soft saffron sponge this city is famous for: high-fat yogurt, cardamom, ghee, saffron, and Persian pistachio. The family still makes ghotab, baklava, and crispy coconut cookies by hand, and we walk the bazaar while the cakes bake. Next is Talar-e Yazd, a palace-style restaurant built for big ceremonies. Chandeliers in front, a kebab operation behind: thousands of skewers ready before the rush, koobideh and saffron chicken over charcoal, golden tahdig, and generous platters of Persian rice. We follow the lunch rush, stop at the rice station, and see what it takes to serve a full hall of guests. The last stop is the smallest. Cafe Momtaz sits on a quiet street in the Mirqatab neighborhood, and every person working there is a woman. It opens at seven in the morning with a short Yazdi breakfast menu: qorme nimru, eggs cooked in stewed meat and tomato, plus omelet, nimru, spinach and egg, and bread straight off the griddle. The tea is on the house, help yourself from the samovar. Families, regulars, and a few travelers fill the small room, and nobody is in a hurry. Cake, kebabs, and breakfast. Three places, one city. This is what Yazd tastes like. Dishes in this video: Yazdi cake, ghotab, baklava, coconut cookies, koobideh kebab, saffron chicken, tahdig, Persian rice, qorme nimru, omelet, nimru, spinach and egg, fresh bread, and tea. If you are looking for a Yazd food tour, an Iranian breakfast spot, or a Persian food documentary to watch in one sitting, this is the whole city in one video. ⏱ CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro 00:26 The 100-Year-Old Bakery 08:08 The Old Bazaar 12:04 Fresh Out of the Oven 14:53 Talar-e Yazd 18:44 The Lunch Rush 22:13 The Persian Rice Station 24:18 The Dining Room 26:05 Cafe Momtaz 30:29 Breakfast, Run by Women 34:40 The Room Fills 📍 LOCATIONS Haj Khalifeh Ali Akbar Confectionary (Jame), Yazd, Iran Google Maps → https://maps.app.goo.gl/d2WHUPAVCs4JX...
