Louis Daniel Armstrong (August 4, 1901 – July 6, 1971), nicknamed "Satchmo", "Satch", and "Pops", was an American trumpeter and vocalist. He was among the most influential figures in jazz. His career spanned five decades and several eras in the history of jazz. He received numerous accolades including the Grammy Award for Best Male Vocal Performance for “Hello, Dolly!” in 1965, as well as a posthumous win for the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1972, and induction into the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame in 2017. After this song was heard in the Robin Williams movie “Good Morning, Vietnam”, it was reissued as a single in 1988, claiming a spot on the U.S. top 40 charts. Several other notable versions of this song had been released through time, with various artists. The timeless message in the lyrics states that the wonders of nature and friendship are important. Even when everything seems lost and despairing, there is always hope for the future. The song was written during a time of turmoil and social chaos, in hope of bringing some reconciliation.
