Pasighat, East Siang | November 1, 2026
During a press briefing, Pasighat Gen Z expressed its support for the ongoing public concerns surrounding the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP), while appealing for democratic and peaceful methods of protest.
The group stated that it supports the people's concerns regarding SUMP but emphasised that protests should be conducted through democratic means, including peaceful rallies, dharnas and other non-violent forms of public expression.
Pasighat Gen Z also raised concerns over the continued detention of individuals following the protest held on October 23, 2026, in Pasighat. The group observed that incidents of violence during protests can lead to further complications and urged that public concerns be addressed through peaceful dialogue and democratic processes.
The briefing highlighted the importance of maintaining peace while allowing people to express their views on the SUMP issue through democratic means.
