On The Block With The Scotts: Episode 6 - Devon Warren: From Guidance Counselor to Photographer

What happens when you realize the career you're in is no longer the career you're meant to pursue? In Episode 6 of On the Block with the Scotts, Jen Scott sits down with photographer and entrepreneur Devon Warren, founder of Devon Warren Photography, based in West Orange, New Jersey. Devon's journey into photography wasn't exactly planned. After working as a guidance counselor and in education, he reached a turning point that pushed him to take a leap of faith. He went on to open a recording studio, discover photography, and eventually build a creative business around his passion. In this conversation, Devon shares: The moment he knew it was time to leave his traditional career How running a recording studio unexpectedly led him to photography Why talent and passion alone aren't enough to build a successful business How his background helps him photograph different people, environments, and cultural experiences The importance of preparation, confidence, and positive self-talk Lessons for aspiring entrepreneurs and creatives From intimate portraits and major cultural events to corporate photography and real estate listings across Essex County, Devon brings a distinctive perspective to the people and places he photographs.
