You spend so much time preparing to come to Canada… but what happens after you actually land? 🇨🇦
When I arrived in Canada as an international student in December 2022, I had spent months thinking about admission, my study permit, tuition, accommodation, flights, documents and everything I needed to get here.
Then I landed.
And suddenly the checklist ended. 😅
Now I had to learn how to actually live here — transportation, banking, groceries, school, money, building relationships and finding my place in a completely new environment.
I also came to Canada before my children, even though we already had our visas. That gave me some time to settle, make my own beginner mistakes and understand our new environment before going back for them.
Looking back, those first few months taught me something I didn't fully understand at the time:
Sometimes the first stage of migration isn't about progress. It's about stability.
In this video, I'm taking you back to my first 90 days in Canada — what surprised me, what I learned, what I'd do differently, and why I think new international students should focus on three things:
STABILIZE → UNDERSTAND → POSITION
You don't have to figure out your entire Canadian life in the first few weeks. But those early months are an important time to understand your new environment, protect the experience and skills you already have, build relationships, understand your finances and gradually start thinking beyond school.
🎥 Coming to Canada as a Student? Your First 90 Days Matter More Than You Think!
If you're already studying abroad, what do you remember most about your first three months? And if you're preparing to come to Canada, what worries you most about those first 90 days?
