What Happened to Nokia? The Company That Dominated Mobile Phones Before the iPhone

Once upon a time, Nokia ruled the mobile phone world. From the legendary Nokia 3310 to the groundbreaking Nokia N95, the Finnish company built some of the most recognizable and trusted phones in history. At its peak, Nokia dominated the global mobile phone market, selling hundreds of millions of devices and becoming a symbol of reliability, innovation, and technological greatness. But within just six years, everything changed. How did a company that once seemed unstoppable lose its position at the top of the mobile phone industry? How did Nokia go from dominating the world's pockets to watching Apple and Samsung reshape the future of mobile technology? In this documentary, we explore the fascinating rise and fall of Nokia — from its surprising beginnings as a Finnish paper mill in 1865 to its transformation into the world's largest mobile phone manufacturer. We uncover how Nokia revolutionized mobile communication, why its seemingly indestructible phones became cultural icons, and how the arrival of the iPhone and Android triggered one of the most remarkable shifts in modern business history. But Nokia's decline wasn't simply the result of competition. Behind the scenes, the company struggled with software development, internal management decisions, changing consumer expectations, and a smartphone revolution that moved faster than its leadership could respond. By 2013, Nokia had agreed to sell its mobile phone business to Microsoft, marking the end of an era for one of the most influential names in technology.
