[作画 MAD/AMV] Koudai Watanabe (渡邊巧大) Sakuga

From a young age, Koudai Watanabe watched Gainax works such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gunbuster and FLCL so he began studying the studio's productions. He intended to join Gainax, but ultimately chose Toei Animation, joining the Toei Animation Research Institute. He debuted as an Animator on the film Toriko 3D: Kaimaku! Gourmet Adventure He participated in various Toei productions, such as Kyousougiga, under the supervision of Yuuki Hayashi. He also worked on Eiga Precure All Stars New Stage with a very impressive transformation scene and an action scene with interesting use of smears and perspective. Later, he debuted as Animation Supervisor in Toriko. He had the opportunity to do the Creature Design for Tanken Driland, and for its sequel (Tanken Driland: 1000 Nen no Mahou), he handled Character Design and served as Chief Animation Supervisor. Tiger Mask W was a project where many Toei artists were able to shine in character animation, with Ryou Oonishi and Watanabe probably being the most prominent. Watanabe participated as an Animator, Animation Supervisor and Storyboarder. The episodes he supervised stand out for their strong emphasis on body movement, with defined muscles, complex shading and a strong sense of volume achieved through the drawings themselves and the perspective in which limbs enter or exit the screen. Not to mention the strong expressiveness in both the designs and poses, as well as the reactions. In 2017 he participated in the animation of Eyecatch for Kirakira Precure à la Mode, in addition to action scenes for the film, working with designs full of complexity, detail and volume without reducing what characterized his work in Tiger Mask W, providing a very solid character animation, as well as the animation of creatures and effects In 2018, he worked on Hugtto! Precure as an Animator, Animation Supervisor and Storyboarder. While there wasn't as much scope for the overly complex movements seen in Tiger Mask W, his episodes again stand out for the solidity of the characters, the incredibly expressive models, and the fluid movement itself. Dragon Ball Super: Broly was a unique case at Toei Animation, the only time the Dragon Ball franchise allowed artists as much creative freedom as they wanted. Watanabe joined Tetsuya Nagamine's production not only as an animator but also as one of the six artists selected to partially supervise the animation under the general supervision of Naohiro Shintani. He worked as an animator on Twilight Wings #02 and in 2020 ventured into a more independent environment, producing animation for a MV called "Study Me" where he served as Director, Storyboarder, Character Designer, Animation Supervisor and Animator. His last work affiliated with Toei appears to have been on Tropical Rouge Precure, for which he created a rather impressive action scene. Afterward, he left Toei Animation at some point and dedicated himself entirely to producing commissioned animation for MVs and he is currently affiliated with Studio ABLE. Since then, he has only participated in the anime industry twice, first by creating commissioned Character Designs for Trigun Stampede alongside other artists. His last involvement in commercial anime was in Fan Letter.
