I finally leave Dalton, Georgia after climbing Dug Mountain and continue north toward Tennessee. And Tennessee immediately makes me work for it. 😂 I cross the state line — with NO welcome sign, by the way — deal with nonstop hills, find a surprisingly nice stealth camping spot behind a church in Charleston, Tennessee, and later find another place to camp near a bike trail. Then comes the real test: 50 brutal miles to Knoxville. After months of riding across the country, there are still days that completely cook me.
