Description: Writing the article or the book is one job. Getting it read is a different job, and it is rarely part of anyone's training. In this session of the ACSP "Cultivating Mentorship for Growth" series, co-sponsored with the ACSP Planners of Color Interest Group (POCIG), four planning scholars share what has actually worked for getting their research in front of academic, practitioner, community, and media audiences. Panelists: Alvaro Huerta, Professor, Cal Poly Pomona Ladan Mozaffarian, Assistant Professor, University of Oklahoma David López-García, Assistant Professor, University of Illinois Chicago Magda Maaoui, Assistant Professor, Harvard Graduate School of Design Facilitator: Ivis García, Associate Professor, Texas A&M University, and ACSP President Topics include what to do when a paper comes out, emailing the scholars you cite, presenting published work at conferences, LinkedIn and Bluesky, working with journalists, sharing results with community partners, translating research for the public, supporting each other through citation and guest lectures, and balancing visibility with protecting time to write.
