Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna to God and the Lamb,
Amen, Amen, and Amen.
O Father of Order and Mercy divine,
We gather before Thy throne of light;
Through valleys of wandering and shadows of choice,
Thy covenant beacon still shines in the night.
Like sheep that have strayed from the fold of the Lord,
Like names nearly lost from the record of grace,
We sought our own pathways and scattered abroad,
Yet still Thy compassion remembered each face.
Upon holy mountains the watchmen stood fast,
Guarding the pathway of covenant peace;
The shepherds received from Thy hand sacred keys,
That sorrow and bondage through Christ might release.
Before Thee stood Alma in anguish and prayer,
Seeking the wisdom no mortal could claim;
And Thou didst reveal that all judgment is Thine,
While mercy flows forth through the power of Thy name.
For Thou hast taken the sins of the world,
O Lamb everlasting, Redeemer and King;
Justice and mercy together unite,
And heaven rejoices when penitents sing.
The gate stands open, the fountain still flows,
The lost are remembered, the scattered are found;
Through covenant mercy our names are restored,
And songs of redemption forever resound.
The book lay open before heaven's throne,
Its pages reflecting the choices of men;
Yet brighter than sorrow, Thy promise appeared:
Repent and return to My presence again.
The river of mercy descended in light,
Washing the dust from the traveler’s feet;
The broken were gathered, the wounded made whole,
And prodigals knelt at the Shepherd's seat.
From east unto west let the covenant call
Awaken the hearts that have wandered afar;
Let temples arise like holy mountains of fire,
Guiding the nations by Bethlehem's star.
The humble who turn and confess before Thee
Shall find living waters that never depart;
For Christ is the Keeper of records above,
Inscribing His mercy on every heart.
O Christ, Eternal Judge and Friend,
The First and the Last, the Beginning and End;
Thou holdest the balance of glory and grace,
Yet welcome the weary who seek Thy embrace.
No darkness can triumph where Thy light appears,
No chain can endure where Thy voice is obeyed;
The covenant pathway shines brighter and brighter,
Till every redeemed soul stands unafraid.
Hosanna forever to Jesus the Christ!
The Holy One standing at mercy's bright gate!
The records of heaven proclaim His great love,
And testify all who endure shall be great.
Let trumpets resound through the heights of the skies,
Let harps and the organ exalt His renown;
The kingdoms of earth and the hosts of the heavens
Bow joyfully low before His bright crown.
From judgment to mercy, from exile to home,
From wandering pathways to Zion's embrace,
The covenant people are gathered as one,
Made pure through the power of infinite grace.
We'll sing and we'll shout with the armies of heaven,
Hosanna, hosanna to God and the Lamb!
Let glory to them in the highest be given,
Henceforth and forever, Amen and amen!
