From paths that wandered into shadowed lands, From voices raised against the Shepherd's hand, A storm arose beneath the covenant sky, And hearts grew hard while truth was passing by. A watchman wept upon the holy wall, Remembering mercies written over all; Yet far away a restless pilgrim strayed, Till heaven's fire broke through the veil he made. An angel stood where darkness held its throne, A trumpet through the wilderness was blown; The mountain shook, the dust of pride gave way, And hidden chambers opened unto day. "Remember now the God who sets men free, Recall the chains, recall captivity;" The ancient paths awakened in his soul, As living waters sought the broken whole. O Christ, Redeemer, Son of God Most High, Thou art the Morning Star that fills the sky; Where night and sorrow held their fearful claim, Thy mercy called us each by sacred name. The stone of rebellion becomes an altar of grace, The wanderer finds again his covenant place; Through Thy atoning blood our hearts are made new, And all things lost are gathered back to You. For three long days the desert winds were heard, No song remained, no comforting word; The weight of justice pressed upon the land, Like drifting sands no mortal strength could stand. Then from the depths a single prayer arose: "Jesus, have mercy" through the darkness flowed; The prison gates surrendered to the Light, And dawn descended on the endless night. The seed once cast to scatter and destroy Became a field of everlasting joy; The voice that fought against the sacred way Now called the nations to the latter day. The road of ashes turned to holy ground, Where covenant songs and testimony sound; The rebel's heart, by heaven's power restored, Became a witness of the living Lord. From chains to crowns, From wilderness to Zion, From broken stones To temples filled with light; From bitter wells To rivers ever flowing, From fearful night To resurrection bright. The Shepherd sought the lamb that wandered far, And marked his path beneath the guiding star; No soul is lost beyond redeeming grace, For mercy still pursues the human race. O Christ, Redeemer, King of Earth and Heaven, Through Thee the wounded soul is wholly given; The gate stands open, shining from above, A covenant sealed in everlasting love. The mountain burns with everlasting flame, The faithful gather in Thy holy name; The trumpets sound, the watchmen lift their cry, And banners of redemption fill the sky. Hosanna rising through the courts of light, Hosanna echoing through eternal night; Hosanna carried on celestial streams, Fulfilling ancient prophecies and dreams. When every wandering path is gathered home, And every pilgrim reaches Zion's dome, The King of Glory shall in splendor stand, And saints shall sing throughout the promised land. We'll sing and we'll shout with the armies of heaven, Hosanna, hosanna to God and the Lamb! Let glory to them in the highest be given, Henceforth and forever, Amen and amen! Heisonoon niiniyoo3eihein
