Stellenbosch walking tour. A 4K summer walk through South Africa's second-oldest town, from the Town Hall along Church Street, Dorp Street and Mill Street to Die Braak and De Nieuwe Molen, on the morning of the annual Harvest Parade. Silent 4K walk with binaural sound.
Stellenbosch was founded in 1679 and named after Governor Simon van der Stel, who also planted the oaks that earned it the name Eikestad, the City of Oaks. The Harvest Parade marks the start of the wine harvest and has been part of the town's calendar for nearly 50 years. It's usually held on a Saturday around the start of February. Stellenbosch is about 40 minutes by car from central Cape Town, and also reachable by train.
