Whether such a mistake would necessitate one being excluded/”excommunicated” from the group or not You often see the quite arbitrary enforcement of who is part of the ideological “in-group” or “out-group”, if there is a scholarly agreement, or disagreement, about if someone may be inside or outside a given group based on a “mistake” they may have made. Even if that “mistake” technically contributes a kind of deviance from the group, should the person specifically be considered a deviant. What if most of his positions or views are in line with the group but he has a few “odd”/”differing” opinions. Important implications for the development of “tradition(s)”.
