SHADRACK SIBIYA SUFFERS ANOTHER HUGE BLOW, ITS OVER!

The disciplinary hearing had barely begun when one of South Africa’s most senior police officers made a decision that immediately changed the course of his career. Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya, the suspended deputy national police commissioner, resigned from the South African Police Service with immediate effect, bringing his time in the force to an end while disciplinary proceedings were already underway. But this was not an ordinary resignation. According to SAPS, Sibiya’s legal representative tendered his resignation shortly after the disciplinary hearing commenced on Monday, 12 October 2026. The police service subsequently confirmed that his employment had terminated with immediate effect. And then came the statement that made the development even more significant. SAPS said that because disciplinary proceedings were pending when Sibiya resigned, his departure would be regarded as a dishonourable discharge.
