Topwater Isn’t Just Frogs or Fish. Try This | Pressured Bass Tactics

Topwater usually means frogs or baitfish… right? Not always. In pressured water, bass often refuse bigger, louder presentations. In this video, I show a different approach: finesse topwater using a small bug-style soft bait. With a simple spinning setup and 6-pound line, we can present something much lighter and more subtle on the surface. I’m using the DSTYLE MUSHIEMON 1.4, a floating elastomer bait that stays on top and creates a natural, quiet action. This technique works especially well when bass come up but don’t commit, or when traditional topwater feels too aggressive. It’s still topwater—but with a finesse mindset.
