Round 2… because apparently failing once wasn’t enough. 😂 After our first attempt at recovering this car from 200 feet down inside Hole In The Ground ended with melted battery cables and us admitting defeat before we turned one stranded vehicle into several, it was time to head back and finish what we started. This time my beautiful wife and I brought some backup. Our friend Trey from Central Oregon Excavation and Hauling joined the adventure, and we showed up considerably more prepared: two recovery rigs, two Apex winches, a whole pile of Yankum recovery gear, and just enough confidence to make questionable decisions seem reasonable. The car had gone over the edge and ended up roughly 200 feet down a seriously steep hillside inside the crater. Getting down to it was one problem. Figuring out how to safely control it while dragging it all the way back uphill without rolling it, destroying it, or sending one of our recovery rigs down there to join it was another. After Round 1, we knew exactly what we were getting ourselves into this time. Well… mostly. With multiple winch lines, recovery points, redirects, Yankum ropes and rigging, and Trey helping us manage the operation, we started working the car back toward the road one section at a time. What looked like a relatively straightforward recovery quickly turned into a whole lot of rigging, repositioning, pulling, and wondering why anyone thought driving down there was a good idea in the first place. But we didn’t drive all the way back to Hole In The Ground, Oregon for Round 2 just to lose again. Thanks as always for watching and supporting the channel. You guys are what make these ridiculous recovery adventures possible!
