Punch the Monkey, the orphaned young macaque at Ichikawa Zoo, spent this week learning 4 rules nobody taught him. Here's how he ended up against the wall.
Monkey Mountain reopened on Oct 21 with new filming rules, and fans caught Punch at nearly 15 months old: not a baby anymore, nowhere near the size of the big guys. This video follows the four unwritten rules he's learning, from sticking close to the big ones to finding his people. A big male bares his teeth, one filmer says Punch "protested with everything he had," and a quiet morning on Oct 25 ends with his back flat against the wall. It's all fan footage, and the quotes are the filmers' own words.
Not every monkey is easy to pick out in a crowd, so where we can't be sure it's Punch, we only repeat what the filmer wrote. Think that's him? Tell us what you see.

What do you think Punch was trying to say when he protested? Tell us in the comments 🧡
