Well we are so back doing one of these historial scenic train rides for the first time in quite a while. We’re finally taking a scenic ride again on the Saratoga, Corinth, & Hudson Railway! The Saratoga, Corinth, & Hudson Railway runs on the former Delaware & Hudson Adirondack Branch that runs between Saratoga Springs and North Creek via Greenfield, Corinth, & Hadley but they only run to Hadley once a year for the maple in April Hadley-Luzerne festival that occurs only in April. A lot has change on the SC&H as we see some new consists including some former MBTA cars which is super interesting to have on the D&H especially on today’s train but today to get even better clips on the ride we get to ride on the open air cars that were originally gondola cars. As we see the locomotive roster has also grown quite a lot and to give you the update those include SC&H Alco S-1 #5, D&H Alco S-2 #3021, D&H Alco RS-3’s #4118 & #4103 since as of late August of 2024 the SC&H bought them from the Delaware & Lackawanna Railroad as they celebrated them returning home to the D&H Adirondack branch where they’ve always ran originally, and finally the locomotive leading today’s train was one of the newest recent locomotives they got was the APRR EMD SW9 #12 which was a former Pennsylvania Railroad and believe it or not it was actually donated by the Albany Port Railroad since they’ve gotten a new switcher. As you know the SC&H usually only run Alco’s and this is actually they’re first ever EMD they’ve ever got and before it came from Albany to Corinth it has been modified a bit to go a quicker speed since it’s max speed was only 8 mph because as you know the Albany Port Railroad is super small that they can only travel at a super slow speed and now it’s here it can go much faster than it did and it makes some good power so the crew is still trying to get used to it. After the scenic ride we went into the museum checking out some of these Amazing vintage historical stuff, such as old parts, tools, magazines, including some of the D&H model collections! Before we left I went into the shop and got myself a t shirt and a book after having such an amazing time. Get ready to sit back, relax, & enjoy viewing this beautiful scenery spotting some of the original equipment still remaining as we see here on this 1 and a half/90 minute scenic historical ride!!
