1270 KM BIKEPACKING THE ALPS | Day 8 – Crossing Great St Bernard Pass

Day 8 was one of the biggest days of the journey. I left Bourg-Saint-Pierre and climbed toward Great St Bernard Pass. The route was much harder than I expected because I had to avoid the tunnel and take the mountain road instead, but the views were incredible. At the top, I met another cyclist, saw the famous St. Bernard rescue dogs, and finally crossed from Switzerland into Italy. From there, I had a long descent to Aosta, explored the city a little, ate pizza, and then continued some extra kilometers for the next day.
