Refutation of Using the matter of Qadariyyah to excuse the Mushrikeen | Shaykh Salih Aal ash-Shaykh

Amongst the doubts of the Murji’ah to excuse the mushrikīn is they use the argument established by Dāwūd ibn Jirjīs, which is to mention the salaf excused the qadariyyah from shirk therefore the grave worshippers are excused too. Shaykh al‑Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 728 AH) said: And likewise, He informed about Hūd that he said to his people: “O my people! Worship Allāh! You have no other Ilāh (God) but Him. Certainly, you do nothing but invent lies!” (Surah Hūd 11:50, Muhsin Khan) So he declared them liars before a ruling came that they opposed because they had made a god along with Allah. Likewise, the description mushrik applies even before the establishment of the message. For he associates partners with his Lord, treats others as equal to Him, sets up other gods alongside Him, and makes rivals to Him before the coming of the Messenger. And it is established that ALL these labels apply before the message reaches them. And likewise the term jāhiliyyah (ignorance) and the word jāhil (ignorant person) are said about someone even before the arrival of the Messenger. Fatwa no. 4400: "So clarifying the matter and establishing the proof (Iqāmat al-hujjah) is for the purpose of removing any excuse before carrying out the punishment upon him, not in order for him to be called a kafir only after the clarification. Question Three from Fatwa No. 11043 Answer: By this it is known that it is not permissible for a group of the muwahhideen, who hold the disbelief of the grave worshippers, to declare takfir upon their brothers from the muwahhideen who have withheld from declaring their disbelief until the hujjah is established upon them (i.e., established upon those who withhold the ruling). This is because their refraining from making takfir of them is due to a shubhah, which is their belief that it is necessary to establish the hujjah upon those grave worshippers before declaring them disbelievers. This is in contrast to those whose kufr carries no ambiguity, such as the Jews, the Christians, the communists, and those like them.
