Illuminated Boat Parade 2026 | Henley-on-Thames | Beaumont Studio

When night falls over Henley-on-Thames, the River Thames comes alive with colour, music and some seriously creative boats. In September 2026, Beaumont Studio was there to capture the spectacular Illuminated Boat Parade, one of Henley’s most magical annual events. With beautifully decorated and illuminated boats making their way along the Thames, thousands of spectators lined the riverbanks to enjoy an unforgettable evening of light, entertainment and community spirit. For this production, Beaumont Studio took to the skies as well as the riverbanks, combining cinematic drone footage with handheld camera work to capture the parade from every angle. From sweeping aerial views showing the scale of the event, to close-up shots of the incredible boat decorations, cheering crowds and vibrant riverside atmosphere, the aim was to tell the complete story of this spectacular night. The 2026 parade brought together boats of all shapes and sizes, with entrants encouraged to let their creativity run wild. The illuminated craft travelled from Fawley Meadows towards Henley Bridge, creating a constantly changing spectacle as coloured lights reflected across the Thames and the historic riverside buildings added to the atmosphere. The event also featured a panel of celebrity judges, with Dame Mary Berry, Jerry Hall and Edd China among those involved in judging the illuminated boats and awarding prizes across several categories. The Illuminated Boat Parade began in Cookham in 2015 with just a small group of illuminated boats before moving to Henley in 2022. Since then, it has grown into a major community celebration, bringing together boat owners, families, visitors and thousands of spectators along the Thames. For Beaumont Studio, this was a fantastic opportunity to combine aerial cinematography and ground-based filming to create a cinematic record of an event that's as much about people and atmosphere as it is about boats. Turn the lights down, turn the volume up and enjoy the 2026 Illuminated Boat Parade from a completely different perspective.
