This PAL4C Labs walkthrough uses one set of equipment and parts data to compare Foundry’s two main analysis tools, Contour and Quiver. Part 1: Contour Two course datasets are brought into a Contour analysis. Data prep: filtering, renaming columns, removing the “P-” prefix from part purity values, and changing purity from text to a number. Parts are joined to equipment by ID, with averages added to give the numbers context. Charts include a histogram of inspection alert severity, a pivot table, and a bar chart of purity by part. These are combined into a dashboard you can filter. Part 2: Quiver The equipment and parts datasets are imported, with a graph showing how the objects relate to each other. Transform tables handle the join, the filtering, and the same purity cleanup as in Contour. Charts include a plot, a histogram, a bar chart and a custom Vega chart, combined into a dashboard with a plant selector. One lesson from the demo: switching to Plant 2 updates every chart except the Vega one. That’s because the filter was added after the transform that feeds the Vega chart, so the order of steps matters.
