Have you ever felt like your prayers were hitting a ceiling of brass? You’ve fasted, wept, and sown seeds, yet the door seems shut and the answer remains out of reach. In this teaching, we explore one of the most difficult questions in the Christian faith:
"Why is my prayer taking so long?".
Rather than offering a simple checklist, this session provides an honest scriptural framework to understand the seasons of silence we all face. We dive into the life of David, who cried out "How long?" in Psalm 13, and discover that asking God "how long?" is not a sign of weak faith, but a faith strong enough to keep speaking when heaven seems silent.
In this video, we discuss four possible reasons for prayer delays:
1. God is Forming You: The delay itself is working for you, shaping your character and endurance so you can faithfully steward the answer when it arrives.
2.The Timing is Not Yet Ready: God coordinates realities we cannot see—moral, historical, and spiritual factors—that must come to maturity before He acts.
3. Something in You is Closed: We examine how a "double-minded" or transactional approach to God can limit our capacity to receive from Him.
4. An Unseen Battle: There are spiritual forces and cosmic powers at work that can lead to opposition and struggle beyond the physical realm.
Key Scriptures Mentioned:
Psalm 13:1–2 – The cry of a man after God's own heart.
*Romans 5:3–5 & James 1:2–4 – How testing produces endurance and character.
*Genesis 15:13–16 – Understanding God's timing through the story of Abraham and Joseph.
*James 1:5–8 – The danger of being double-minded.
*Luke 18:1–8 – The parable of the persistent widow and the call to never lose heart.
The faith Jesus is looking for is the kind that refuses to be discouraged by the long delay. Don't give up praying. Even when you don't understand the reasons, you can trust the character of the Just Judge and the Good Father who hears you.
"When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?". Let that faith be found in you as you continue to pray through the silence.
