The Black Hills National Forest is a large, forested area of over 1.2 million acres in western South Dakota and eastern Wyoming. Established in 1897 and managed by the U.S. Forest Service, The Black Hills are known for rugged landscapes, granite cliffs, caves, and rock formations. Black Hills National Forest offers over 3800 miles of roads and trails, designated for motorized travel. This total includes 700 miles of trails that are specifically designated for Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs). During our visit in July of 2025, we decided to check out a few of the back roads. From US Highway 16 west of Custer, we drove north on Forest Service Road 288, connecting to Forest Service Road 291 - also known as Ditch Creek Road. We end our drive at the beautiful Deerfield Lake Reservoir, in the central Black Hills. #blackhillssd #southdakota #nationalforest Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Please be sure to like, comment and subscribe to our channel at:    / @blendedtravels
