SVR Autumn Steam Gala - Friday 18th September 2026 (Part 6)

Having been paired together with no. 9681 on a round trip from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster and back, no. 7714 was supposed to do a round trip on her own... but she didn't. Instead, and I can only assume it was an ad-hoc decision, the railway decided to keep no. 9681 with the train and do a second round trip with the pair! Which was great! I took the panniers down to Bewdley and then met up with another GWR double header, this one being made up of ex-Port Talbot saddle tank no. 813 and Large Prairie no. 4150. I took them up to Hampton Loade, ready to tick off the final pair of locomotives I'd yet to travel behind during the day. And it took me into perhaps my favourite part of steam galas: the evening running. Thankfully, my phone's camera lens had cleared up by the time I switched trains at Bewdley.
