Ikana is the dead kingdom of Majora's Mask: a skeleton king, soldiers still guarding graves, spies still creeping through the canyon, a tower spewing darkness. Fans blame the Garo, a curse, even Majora. This video asks the characters themselves: Captain Keeta, the Garo, the composer brothers, and the king, whose own answer is "petty, little battles". In the original Japanese, he also says his army already failed to take the Stone Tower; the English turned that into a guess. Then my reading, marked as one: Ikana destroyed itself.

WHAT THIS VIDEO DOES NOT CLAIM
Who opened the Stone Tower's door: the game never says, and neither do I. The last chapter is my reading, marked as one. The Japanese line about the siege was read on a recording of the Japanese Nintendo 64 game (not shown) and matches the 2008 fan transcript; the translation is mine. Nothing in the game dates the siege against the opening of the door. Our playthrough has no ordinary Garo encounter, so the Garo you see is their leader, the Garo Master; some lines (Tatl's, the Poe collector's epitaph, Pamela's father's picture talk) are quoted from the transcript and Zelda Wiki, not shown. "Forgive your friend" closes the giants' message in the playthrough shown, where Stone Tower came last. Aonuma's words reach us through Nintendo Everything's translation.
