The Stories Behind the Songs | Climate Emergency Mixtape:

Can music and culture change how we understand and respond to the climate crisis? Ahead of the Climate Emergency Mixtape launch concert at The Humming Tree in Bengaluru on 1 October 2026, journalist Sweta Daga of PARI sat down with the artists for a conversation about the stories behind the music. Featuring Krantinari, Naveen Koomar, Kali, DEVANSHI!, Alkama and Sollisai Sistahs, the roundtable explores how the idea for the mixtape came about, how the artists have witnessed climate change and its impacts in their own contexts, and why music can be a powerful way to bring these experiences to wider audiences. The conversation also looks at the role of culture in climate communication, the possibilities of music in building awareness and encouraging climate action, and what happens when artists bring their lived experiences into their work. The session concludes with a Q&A. The Climate Emergency Mixtape brings climate stories into hip-hop, connecting the climate crisis with the places, people and everyday realities it affects. Watch the conversation, hear directly from the artists, and join us in exploring how culture can help move the climate conversation forward. The Climate Emergency Mixtape is a project built by Youth Ki Awaaz, Kraantinari, Asar, Folksoul and the Climate Culture Collective, Learn more about the Climate Emergency Mixtape: https://asar.co.in/climate-emergency-... #ClimateEmergencyMixtape #ClimateAction #ClimateAndCulture #ClimateCommunication #HipHop
