Israel and the US weigh fresh Iran strikes as the Houthi siege deepens

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed his military to plan a multi-day bombing campaign targeting Iranian nuclear facilities and power grids, as talks with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth signal preparation for joint military action against Iran. On today’s episode of Iran: the Latest, Roland Oliphant speaks with global health security editor Paul Nuki about Netanyahu’s vow to dismantle the Iranian regime, the political calculations behind Trump delaying military action until after the midterms, and whether an Israeli election could derail Netanyahu’s foreign policy plans. They examine the domestic atmosphere in Israel and consider the key factors that will decide the vote in next week's election. Plus, how IRGC threats against undersea internet cables in the Strait of Hormuz threaten global commerce, and how Houthi missile strikes are driving Saudi Arabia toward economic breaking point. #Iran #Israel #MiddleEast #Yemen #Houthis #Netanyahu #Geopolitics #USForeignPolicy #StraitOfHormuz #GlobalSecurity #NewsUpdate #Telegraph CHAPTERS 00:00 Introduction & Overview 00:21 Escalation in Yemen & Houthi Attacks 02:09 Hegseth & Netanyahu’s Secret Meeting 03:37 Reports of Israel Planning Iranian Offensive 04:27 Strait of Hormuz Tanker Incident 05:00 Discussion with Paul Nuki on Israel's Strategy 10:49 The US Bind, UK Air Support, & Economic Cost in the Gulf 16:54 IRGC Warnings & Threats to Subsea Cables 19:16 Humanitarian Crisis & Famine Risks in Yemen 22:52 Analyzing the Israeli Election Campaign & Key Players 28:53 What Is Driving the Israeli Voter? 34:00 Closing Remarks CONTRIBUTORS: Roland Oliphant, co-host and chief foreign affairs analyst @RolandOliphant Paul Nuki, global health security editor @PaulNuki WATCH US ON YOUTUBE:    • Iran: The Latest |  Podcast | The Telegraph   CONTENT REFERENCED: Two RAF Fairford suspects arrested for spying for Iran https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026...
