Most AI replies to Google reviews sound like a robot: "We sincerely apologize... we understand your frustration... thank you for your feedback." I tested free ChatGPT on 5 real kinds of reviews for a sample lawn care business, and found the prompt formula that makes replies sound like a real owner: names, one real fix, and a ban list of robot phrases. Includes the angry 1-star, the vague review you can't find in your records, the mixed 3-star, and the 5-star most owners never answer.

THE PROMPTS (copy, paste, swap in your business):
The better 1-star prompt:
I own GreenEdge Lawn Care in Tampa, Florida. Reply to this 1-star Google review from Mike: "They showed up 3 hours late and left grass clippings all over my driveway. Never again." Rules: sound like a real owner, not a company. Don't use phrases like "we apologize for any inconvenience" or "thank you for your feedback." Mention one real fix: our crews now text a 30-minute heads-up and blow off driveways before leaving. Offer a free re-cut. Under 70 words. Sign it Dan, owner.
The vague / suspicious review:
I own GreenEdge Lawn Care in Tampa, Florida. A new Google review says only: "Total scam. Worst company in Tampa." We have no record of this person as a customer. Write a calm public reply that doesn't accuse them of lying, asks them to contact us directly, and stays under 50 words. Sign it Dan, owner.
The mixed 3-star:
I own GreenEdge Lawn Care in Tampa, Florida. 3-star Google review from Priya: "Hedges look great, but they skipped the backyard and it took two calls to get someone back out." Write a reply: thank her for the specific praise, own the mistake without excuses, say what we changed (every job now ends with a walk-around checklist), under 60 words. Sign it Dan, owner.
The happy 5-star:
I own GreenEdge Lawn Care in Tampa, Florida. 5-star Google review from Carlos: "Dan's crew brought our lawn back after the drought. Fair price and always on time." Write a short, warm reply that doesn't sound copy-pasted. Mention one detail from his review. Under 40 words. Sign it Dan.
5 rules before you post: read it out loud, never argue in public, never share private details, don't paste customer personal data into AI, reply within a day or two.
