Composition Nº 14 in D♭ Major — The Last Walk Along the Water The final composition of my musical and photographic journey along London’s canals. This piece follows the last stretch of the journey along the Regent’s Canal, from Hackney to Limehouse Basin. After the Grand Union Canal, Little Venice, Paddington Basin and the earlier sections of the Regent’s Canal, the journey now comes to its final walk beside the water. The music is written in a romantic orchestral language, with broad melodies, warm orchestral colours and a gradual movement from intimate passages towards a full orchestral climax before returning to a quieter, reflective ending. The photographs accompanying the music follow the canal, its bridges, paths, boats and the changing character of London as the water approaches Limehouse Basin. This composition is not intended as a grand conclusion, but simply as the last page of a journey that has unfolded one walk, one photograph and one piece of music at a time.
