Why is your dog scratching all night, and what actually helps? Most owners either buy an expensive bottle of drops or end up at the vet for itch pills that wear off in a few weeks, and neither one asks why the dog is itching in the first place. This video starts with that question, then shows what you can do from your own kitchen tonight.
In this video:
✓ The five-dollar flea comb test that tells you whether fleas are the real problem ✓ Why a dog with a flea allergy can keep scratching for days after a single bite ✓ The cool oatmeal bath you can make with a blender and a cup of plain oats ✓ Diluted apple cider vinegar for damp, smelly paws, and when you must skip it ✓ What coconut oil can and can't do, and why it's not for hot spots ✓ The popular "make your dog taste bad to bugs" tricks, and why garlic does more harm than good ✓ What an Ohio State study found about vacuuming and fleas ✓ The daily tick check, the three places ticks hide most, and how to remove one safely ✓ The teaspoon almost everybody skips, and how to get the dose right
Itchy skin usually has a cause, whether it's fleas, food, the environment or an infection. Finding it saves money, sleepless nights and a lot of scratching. Simple habits help a great deal, but they work best alongside your vet, not instead of them.
A few safety notes from the video. Garlic and onions damage a dog's red blood cells, so never use them as a flea remedy, and avoid boxed broth, which often contains both. Check yogurt labels for xylitol, sometimes listed as birch sugar, which is dangerous for dogs. Natural steps lower the risk from fleas and ticks, but a vet-recommended preventive removes most of it, especially where tick-borne diseases like Lyme are common. Red, smelly ears and spreading hot spots need a vet visit, and if your dog has had pancreatitis or takes regular medication, ask your vet before starting fish oil.
For reflection only, not veterinary advice.
