“I was the one suffering from this and on the other hand I was the one clearly creating the suffering.”
A mind that wouldn’t stop at night, and the strange position of being both the one suffering and the one causing it. She offers no secret and says so plainly. What she offers instead is a practice that works the same whether you have sat for thirty years or three minutes. First, find an anchor your attention actually likes returning to. Then, once it begins to settle there, a second step that changes your relationship to the thoughts rather than fighting them.
In this talk:
Why rumination is so hard to simply stop
Marrying attention to intention
Finding an anchor, and what to do if the breath is not yours
When the mind wanders, and why self-judgment makes it worse
Becoming the space in which thoughts arise
