▶ See the stones for yourself, with every source: https://theevidenceforjesus.com/s/pil... When the Pharisees told Jesus to quiet the crowd on the road into Jerusalem, He said, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out” (Luke 19:40). Two thousand years later, stones dug out of the ground carry the names the Gospels give: Pontius Pilate on a stone at Caesarea, “son of Caiaphas” on a bone box in Jerusalem, and the steps of the Pool of Siloam, where Jesus sent a blind man to wash. A Roman who despised Christians wrote that Christ was put to death under Pilate. More than 5,800 Greek copies keep what the apostles wrote. Jesus was crucified under Pontius Pilate. He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. If even the stones carry His story, how could we keep quiet? This is a song to sing to Him. The whole story, in English and Chinese: https://theevidenceforjesus.com Chapters 0:00 Louder Than the Stones 0:11 Down the Mount of Olives (Luke 19:37–40) 0:26 Names in stone: Pilate, Caiaphas, Siloam 0:40 If the stones cry out 0:48 I won't keep quiet 1:06 The empty tomb 1:18 Writers and copies: Tacitus, Josephus, 5,800 manuscripts 1:41 I won't keep quiet 2:08 Crucified, buried, risen (1 Corinthians 15:3–4) 2:38 Like the ones who saw You (Acts 4:20) 2:53 Louder than the stones 3:27 The Word became flesh (John 1:14) Scripture (NIV): Luke 19:37–40; Luke 3:1; John 11:49; John 9:7; Acts 4:20; John 1:14; Acts 2:24; Mark 15:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4 Other sources (each is on the site, linked): The Pilate Stone; the Caiaphas ossuary (“Joseph son of Caiaphas”; a few scholars doubt the link to the high priest); the Pool of Siloam, uncovered in 2004; Tacitus, Annals 15.44; Josephus, Antiquities 20.200 (“the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ, whose name was James”); Papyrus 52; textual criticism of the New Testament (more than 5,800 Greek manuscripts). Luke 19:40 is about the disciples' praise on Palm Sunday, not a prophecy of archaeology; the song borrows it as a picture. Lyrics Down the Mount of Olives the crowd began to sing, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Teacher, make them stop,” the Pharisees said, You said, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” A stone in Caesarea kept Pilate's name, A box of bones said “son of Caiaphas,” The steps of Siloam came up from the ground, Where a blind man washed and came home seeing. If the stones cry out, (The stones cry out!) How could I keep quiet? I won't keep quiet, Jesus, (I won't keep quiet!) You're the Word made flesh, You lived among us, The grave could not hold You, You are risen, I'll sing it louder than the stones! (Louder than the stones!) A Roman who despised us wrote down “Christus,” Josephus named James, the brother of Jesus, Hand after hand, they copied every line, More than fifty-eight hundred in Greek still here. Under Pontius Pilate You were crucified, For my sins You died, and You were buried, On the third day You rose again, Death could not keep its hold on You! Like the ones who saw You, I can't keep quiet! The Word became flesh And made his dwelling among us. Pictures Illustrations drawn for this video with an AI image model and animated with Vidu.
