Pakistan’s Boat Highway - The Boat That Beats the 200KM Road!

An ancient way of travelling is still alive in Pakistan. These traditional boat rafts carry people, goods, motorbikes and even cars across the river between Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad. While the road journey between the districts is around 200 kilometers, these boats can make the crossing in just 20–25 minutes. When the river current is strong, the journey can take 40–45 minutes. I travelled on one of these boats to experience this fascinating and affordable form of transportation that continues to connect communities even today.
