CSX Coal Trains on Former Clinchfield, L&N, and C&O Lines

This video is a compilation of multiple different chases from 2023 and 2024 in the coal fields of southern Appalachia. Covered in this video are the Clinchfield Mainline, the L&N CV Sub, L&N Poor Fork Branch, and the C&O Logan Sub. 0:00 CSX C760 Rock Creek The video starts off with a loaded train heading south on the current day CSX Kingsport Sub former Clinchfield mainline at Rock Creek just outside of Erwin TN. This train of empties was heading to Mayflower to be loaded outside of Pennington Gap, the first train in a while and since then I believe there was only one or two trains since that have been loaded there. 9:13 CSX R656 SE Baileys 10:40 CSX R614 Baxter Tower After loading at Creech, CSX train R614 heads north by Baxter Tower, one of the only L&N switch towers remaining, into Loyall yard where they'll run around their train and head south the following day. 12:19 CSX R614 Totz KY In Loyall, the Poor Fork Branch splits off of the CV sub and ran to Lynch KY, but today it ends in Cumberland. I Catch a different R614 heading north at a few locations around Totz after loading at NRG 14:38 CSX R614 Baxter Tower 16:55 CSX E779 Smith Ky After going through Hagens Tunnel and crossing into Kentucky, E779 which is the same train set as C760 earlier minus the DPU is seen heading north on the CV sub originating in Kingsport with a final destination of the Resource load out. 18:05 CSX E779 Baxter 20:19 CSX E779 Loyall 21:11 CSX C090 Fleenortown With loading at Creech the day before, the Eastman job heads south along CV sub in Virginia enroute to Kingsport TN 22:23 CSX C090 Olinger VA 23:40 CSX C090 Natural Tunnel Invading onto NS trackage, C090 heads south on the former Southern Railway through Natural Tunnel 25:21 CSX Coal Barboursville WV Moving to the last line and railroad covered, the CSX Logan subdivision, formally a C&O line, runs from Barboursville where it splits off the Kanawha Sub and heads east towards Gilbert WV.
