A Medieval Christmas Tradition - A Victorian Recipe!

A baked boar's head was a medieval tradition at Christmas. This tradition continued for centuries, and on Queen Victoria's Christmas sideboard in 1888 at Osborne House, we can see a decorated boar's head on display. Charles Elmé Francatelli was a famous Victorian chef and in one of his cook books is a complicated recipe for 'Imitation Boar's Head'. Was this the dish served to Queen Victoria in 1888?
