In 1795, a teenage boy on a small island in Nova Scotia, Canada, noticed a strange round dip in the ground under an old oak tree. He and two friends started digging, and people have been digging in that same spot ever since. Over more than 200 years, the Oak Island Money Pit has swallowed fortunes, a beach that might be fake, a stone carved with a secret code, a future US President's summer, and six human lives. Every time someone gets close to the bottom, the pit floods with seawater. So what's really down there? Pirate gold? The Knights Templar? Or something nobody looked at for the first hundred years? In this episode of Curious Journey, we dig into the legend, the evidence, and the most likely explanation. 🔍 What you'll learn in this video: ✅ How the Money Pit legend began in 1795, and why the earliest written records come 60 years later ✅ The log platforms, charcoal, putty, and "coconut fiber" found layer after layer ✅ The mysterious stone with coded symbols that ended up in a fireplace and then disappeared ✅ Why the famous "two million pounds" translation is very likely a later addition ✅ How the pit flooded at 98 feet, just as searchers thought they'd hit a chest ✅ The Truro Company drill, the 3 gold chain links, and the parchment scrap reading "vi" ✅ Smith's Cove: the "fake beach" and its stone drains that look like a booby trap ✅ The 1897 red dye test, and what it suggests about the flooding ✅ Franklin D. Roosevelt's summer as a treasure hunter on Oak Island ✅ The 1965 Restall tragedy, when four men died trying to save each other ✅ How Robert Dunfield's crane destroyed the original pit site ✅ Dan Blankenship, Borehole 10-X, and the "hand" on the underwater camera ✅ The theories: Captain Kidd, Blackbeard, soldiers, the Templars, the Holy Grail, even Shakespeare's manuscripts ✅ The geology explanation: natural sinkholes in limestone and gypsum, and why it fits so many clues ✅ The real lesson: how a strong belief turns every failure into "proof" Do you think there's really something at the bottom of the Money Pit, or did the island fool everyone?
