Is Oak Island hiding a vault—or did the ground create the mystery?
I trace the story of the Money Pit, from Daniel McGinnis and the early treasure hunts to the flooding shafts, coconut fiber, coded stone, and legends of pirates and secret builders. I also examine the geology beneath the crater and Stephen Aitken’s case that it is a natural sinkhole in the Windsor Group.
I compare the rock, water, and historical records with the evidence that geology cannot explain, including the timber structures at Smith’s Cove, the swamp, and the island’s Mi’kmaq history. I also look at the limits of the available studies and what remains unknown about Oak Island.
