South Africa's public transport is being rebuilt, and the work is happening on Hammer Road.
In this opening look, we travel from pickup to the gates of MAN Bus & Coach's Olifantsfontein facility in Gauteng. Since 1999, the plant has built the bodies for heavy-duty buses across Southern Africa. Today it is positioned at the center of the continent's electric shift: it produced the country's first locally built electric city bus, the Lion's Explorer E, and is executing MAN's largest electric bus order outside Europe, 100 eBuses for the Paruk Group.
For operators, manufacturers and investors watching Africa's mobility transition, local production is the story. Building electric buses where they will run shortens supply chains, adapts engineering to African road conditions and keeps skills and jobs on the continent.
This teaser covers the arrival only. The full plant visit follows.
Thank you to MAN Bus & Coach for the access.
