Pumpkin Patch & Painting Pumpkins | October Homeschool Field Trip

For this October homeschool field trip, we took Charli, Esme, and Theo to the pumpkin patch to explore, pick out pumpkins, and enjoy some time together as a family. 🎃🍂 For Charli's kindergarten homeschool science curriculum, we use **Backyard & Beyond by Not Consumed**, and this adventure was part of their Pumpkin Patch lesson! One of the things I love about homeschooling is finding ways to turn things we would normally do as a family into opportunities to learn. Going to the pumpkin patch is something we would have done anyway, but this year we got to experience it a little differently! Through the lesson, Charli got to learn some fun facts about pumpkins, explore the pumpkin patch, and discover a few things we didn't know before. Like the fact that pumpkins actually float instead of sink! 🎃🤣 I'll admit, I learned something new with that one, too! After picking out our pumpkins, we brought them home for some painting and decorating to finish off our fall adventure. 🎨 It's little experiences like these that remind me why I love incorporating hands-on learning into our homeschool routine. Not every lesson needs to happen at a desk, and sometimes the simplest family traditions make for some of the most memorable learning opportunities.
