Snorkeling a Freezing Mountain Creek While Camping in the Appalachians

I spent a weekend camping in the Appalachian Mountains during peak fall foliage, exploring waterfalls, hiking through the forest, and searching for underwater wildlife in a freezing mountain creek. After setting up camp, I started the morning with coffee by the fire before heading out to explore some beautiful mountain waterfalls. Later, I cooked a burger over the campfire, suited up in two wetsuits, and headed into the icy creek to see what was living beneath the surface. The water was incredibly cold, but I managed to explore some shallow pools and find a surprising number of crayfish hiding among the rocks! Just another adventure exploring the creeks, wildlife, and wilderness of the Appalachian Mountains.
