1865 Forster & Andrews pipe organ restoration & installation Pt29 of loads

In part 29, the treble end (right hand side) pedal Bourdon 16 chest get's overhauled & and installed. This works on exhaust pneumatic action. When the organ was originally built in 1865, it had a 25-note pedalboard. It's clear to me that the pedal section, like the manuals (keyboards) were also originally tracker (mechanical) action. On the organ's third move in December 1919 to the building we bought it from in 2010 it looks to have gone back to the F&A factory in Hull in it's entirity for a 'factory rebuild'. I say this as some of the alterations from 25-note pedals to 30-note pedals are too perfect to really be cone any other way. It's at that point the pedals would have been changed from tracker to pneumatic action. There was no sign whatsoever of any tracker action pedal parts when we removed the organ, therefore it must have happened during that 1919 move. At that time the daft change of the Great Fifteenth to a Dulciana would also have happened....something I have reversed & have had a brand new rank of Fifteenth pipes made. I'm not sure when the Swell pedal was changed from a ratchet pedal to a balanced one; that could be later work & I can't say it's as high quality as the rest of the organ. I have improved this by changing the Linoleum pedal covering to a 10mm thick piece of Oak. Richard, G0OJF I am a time-served professional organ builder. Lincolnshire, UK
