Carpathian Village Life: Maria Cooks Traditional Food & Volodymyr Works on the Farm 🏔️

🏔️ High in a Carpathian village, surrounded by mountains, Volodymyr and Maria live their simple, hardworking, but happy rural life. Today Maria climbs high up the hillside to harvest beans from their garden. She carefully gathers the plants and prepares them for drying. Meanwhile, Volodymyr works around their traditional mountain home, sanding and cutting wooden boards and making new wooden trim around the entrance door. 🪵 🐄 Later, Volodymyr takes their two cows high onto the hillside to graze and helps Maria carry the harvested beans back down to the house. Together they take them up to the attic, where they will dry before the beans are shelled. 🍄 After a long morning of work, Maria starts preparing delicious traditional Carpathian food. She fries fresh mushrooms and cooks a traditional mushroom muchanka — a creamy Carpathian sauce made with sour cream, flour and egg. She also prepares a delicious dish with cheese and tomatoes fried in egg, while homemade cabbage rolls slowly cook nearby. 🧈 Maria brings out an old traditional butter churn, fills it with sour cream, and Volodymyr helps churn fresh homemade butter. In the evening they climb the steep hillside again to bring the cows home. The cows hurry down the mountain slope while Volodymyr carefully leads them.
