MythBusters — S14 E12 "Duct Tape: The Return" — Aired March 6, 2016 Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman return to their favorite miracle material for one last massive challenge, pushing duct tape to its absolute limits with two wildly different and extremely dangerous mechanical stress tests. First, they ask whether the sticky stuff can serve as a life-saving replacement for a broken car seat belt, strapping their trusty crash test dummy Buster into a customized self-steering rig and sending him hurtling toward a steel barricade at high speeds to see if layered polyethylene can withstand the immense G-forces of sudden deceleration. Then, trading modern automotive mayhem for medieval siege warfare, the duo attempts their largest and heaviest duct tape build in the show's history by constructing a giant, functional trebuchet held together entirely by tape without a single nail, screw, or pin. With a 750-pound engine block serving as the counterweight and over 3,000 foot-pounds of torque bearing down on the joints, they prepare to hurl a flaming projectile at an inflatable target to find out if a massive weapon of war bound only by adhesive can actually fire without violently tearing itself to pieces.
