Your Mac's Dock can do far more than open apps. Turn it into a place to open, file, and find your
files fast — with far fewer trips back to Finder. Everything here is built into macOS (Tahoe 26).
No extra apps.
Most people use the Dock only to launch apps. But it can hold the folders and files you work with
all day: park your current folder there, open any file inside with one click, send a file straight
to the app you want, put it away, and reopen recent work — without digging through Finder every time.
What you'll learn:
Put a folder in the Dock and open any file inside with one click (Stacks: Fan, Grid, List)
Sort a Dock folder by Date Added so the newest file is always on top
Keep Downloads in the Dock and stop scrolling to find what you just saved
Drag a file straight onto the app you want — skip "Open With"
File a document away by dragging it into a Dock folder
Command-click a Dock item to reveal the original in Finder (and why removing it never deletes it)
Reopen recent files right from an app's Dock menu (shown in Preview)
Turn off suggested & recent apps and minimize windows into the app icon to keep the Dock clean
Bring one app forward and hide the rest in a single click
Great for MacBook, iMac, or Mac mini — a faster way to work with your files without installing a thing.
