With a wind of 270/20 and a landing on runway 24, the wind is 30 degrees off the runway, giving a crosswind of 10 kt and a headwind of about 17 kt. The lesson shows the sine and cosine calculation, a quick cockpit rule for 30, 45, 60 and 90 degrees, and how to check the answer against the maximum demonstrated crosswind in the Pilot's Operating Handbook: 17 kt for the example PA-28-161 Warrior II, which is what was demonstrated, not a limit.
