In an emotional interview, the court heard her describe to police how she ‘couldn’t breathe’ and thought her rib cage might break. Afterwards, she told police, she blamed herself, ‘banging her head’ after Brand allegedly left her that night. The defence barrister described the encounter as a consensual one-night stand.
