Appalachian Trail 2026 thru-hike: Day 109

Day 109 of my Appalachian Trail thru-hike! After a really great stay at The Notch Hostel we set out to climb Kinsman. We started the day back at Kinsman Notch and began the climb up Mt Wolf. Mount Wolf wasn’t particularly difficult but the climb out of the notch as always was a lot of elevation. Once up and over Mount Wolf we began the ascent to the summit of Kinsman. It was a really beautiful hike. The trail was similar to Northern Vermont which is no surprise. Large slab boulders, rocks, and moss littered the sides of the trail. The trail itself was really well maintained which I suppose is to be expected for such a popular mountain range. Around a mile and a half from the summit of the Kinsman South Peak there was an aggressive change to the terrain. It was around an hour of scrambling to make the final ascent. However once you’re at the top, the views were incredible. Heading over to the North Peak you even get an amazing view of the Franconia Ridge which is the plan for tomorrow.
