Bishop Dag Heward-Mills teaches that poor people are not an evil to avoid but the greatest source of prosperity for those called by God. He reads First Kings 17:9, where God commanded a widow woman at Zarephath to sustain Elijah, showing that God uses the poor to provide for His servants. He references Isaiah 1:3, where the ox knows its owner and the donkey its master's crib, yet God's people fail to recognize the blessings before them. He shares a vivid story of a proud pastor who treated visitors like flies in his air-conditioned office, displayed the same arrogance toward his own leader, was cast out, and is now going around begging. He declares that the anointing is for the poor, quoting the words of Jesus that the Spirit of the Lord anointed Him to preach the gospel to the poor. He testifies that the longest-standing faithful people in his ministry joined him when they had nothing and remain his greatest source of blessing. He warns that blessing does not come from trying to be rich, for the blessing of the Lord is what makes a person rich, and charges every listener to stop despising the poor and start recognizing where God has planted them.
