What makes a horror character worth following into danger?
In Part 3 of Framework of Fear, we use Sudowrite Chat to develop the people at the heart of a folk horror story: a social worker investigating a remote community, a human antagonist who makes the threat personal, and a supporting cast with distinct story functions.
We explore desire, fear, strengths that become vulnerabilities, and the choices that reveal who a character really is. Then we connect those ideas to Character Cards through a live brainstorming, selection, and review workflow.
You'll see how to:
• Connect your protagonist to your concept and thematic question.
• Explore a character's public mask, underlying wounds, and choices under pressure.
• Give a human antagonist believable motives and personal leverage.
• Use smaller templates and distinct roles to keep your supporting cast focused.
• Import character material when direct card creation encounters technical difficulties.
The discussion also explores a useful cast-size question: does every task in your fictional world need a named character, or can some work happen offscreen?
This is a live workshop with real-time decisions and technical troubleshooting. The generated material is a working foundation for further review and refinement.
Framework of Fear is a five-part series developing a horror Story Bible with Sudowrite Chat. This installment focuses on characters; the following installment turns to worldbuilding.
